BC FlyFishers

Thursday, October 15th

Special Announcement

This will be John Trainor’s last meeting before he moves to Florida!

John is a founding member of BCFF, long time treasurer, meeting wrangler, presenter, mentor and fishing buddy to many, friend to all and always happy to share, talk and teach fly fishing.

Come share a memory

Hello Fly Fishing Enthusiasts,

BC Flyfishers next general meeting will be Thursday, October 15th, 2026. Doors open at 6:30 to give everyone a chance to catch up and see what’s available in our fly raffle, for sale, or for trade.

Water, Coffee, and Pizza will be provided.

Meetings are held upstairs in the West Endicott Fire Station on 113 North Page Avenue, Endicott, NY. Please be aware that the station does not have an elevator and that parking must be on the street and not in the fire department parking lot.

Tim Barrett will talk about late-season salmon, the ramp-up for steelhead, and targeting brown trout with salmon eggs.

Ever land a fish on a fly rod that is measured in pounds, not inches? Salmon River fishing is about to ramp up with King Salmon, Coho Salmon, Big Lake Browns, and Steelhead, all of which can exceed 20 pounds. In spite of what many say, these fish will readily take a fly. Tim will provide a brief history about all the Salmon River species, catch timing, rigging, presentation methods, and fly selection.

If you have never caught these spectacular fish, you should attend to find out how it’s done. The skills required are very different than for stream trout and bass. He will also share some of his secrets for successfully tackling big fish. You’ll be sorry if you miss this.

Tim is a local long time NYS Guide focusing seasonally on the Delaware Rivers, Catskill Streams, Adirondack Rivers, and Salmon River. He is an accomplished fly designer and tyer. Tim also designs and handcrafts drift boats. Tim particularly enjoys teaching the sport to others, the people he meets on the river, ideas shared, and the scenic places that fly fishing takes him.

The meeting is open to the general public at no fee so feel free to bring a friend.
